About AMA Queensland FoundationThe Foundation is the charitable arm of AMA Queensland and was established in 2000 by members to help people who fell through the gaps in the health system. The Foundation's mission is to improve medical conditions in areas of need by raising funds to finance and implement: improved or emergency medical services in rural and remote areas; improved medical education; vital medical research. The Foundation does this by: providing life‐saving medical services, treatments and equipment to people in need, particularly in rural and remote regions; financially supporting medical students, who are experiencing hardship, to continue their studies towards becoming a doctor; raising funds for major community causes. Composition of the BoardThe Foundation is governed by a board with a minimum of four and a maximum of seven directors with diverse skills and experience including communications, marketing, fundraising and the medical profession. The board is now seeking expressions of interest for one director position. Skills SoughtThe candidate we are seeking will have considerable experience in governance and one or more of the following skills including networking, relationship management, philanthropy and the medical profession. Experience on similar boards will be considered favourably. GAICD qualification or similar are preferred, or a clear intention and timeline to complete appropriate studies. Duration of TenureDirectors may continue in their roles for up to six years. Refer to the Foundation's constitution for more information on Election of Directors. RemunerationThis is a voluntary position, though expenses incurred for special projects can be reimbursed, and the board meets at least four times per year. The successful candidate will also be expected to attend events hosted by the Foundation from time to time.
