About the Role
As a Junior Estimating Assistant, you’ll support our estimating team with tender administration, document control, basic take‑offs, and supplier quote management. You’ll learn industry processes, gain exposure to real projects, and develop the foundations for a long‑term estimating career.
What You’ll Be Doing
Tender & Document Control
* Set up tender folders, registers, and returnable schedules
* Maintain drawing and addenda registers
* Format and collate submission documents
* Track RFIs and ensure responses are filed correctly
Basic Quantity Take‑offs
* Measure simple quantities from drawings (conduits, pits, trenches, concrete, etc.)
* Update take‑off sheets and flag discrepancies
Supplier & Subcontractor Quotes
* Issue RFQs and follow up pricing
* Maintain quote registers and revision control
* Check quotes for obvious omissions and escalate issues
General Support
* Assist with tender milestones and action lists
* Help with post‑tender archiving and lessons‑learned documentation
* Learn traffic signals terminology and TMR requirements
What You Bring
Essential:
* Basic understanding of construction drawings
* Strong attention to detail and numeracy
* Good communication skills (phone and email)
* Proficiency in Word and Excel
* Ability to follow processes and meet deadlines
Desirable:
* Exposure to civil/electrical construction or a construction office
* Introductory knowledge of traffic signals or ITS
* Experience with PDF measurement tools or estimating software
