About the Opportunity
Our core specialties include orthopaedics, heart and lung surgery, head and neck surgery, neurosurgery, urology, vascular surgery, upper GI/hepatobiliary surgery, ENT surgery, colorectal surgery, gynaecology, neurology, plastic and reconstructive surgery, cancer services and mental health.
Role Summary
As Scrub Scout, you will play a critical role in supporting the surgical team, ensuring the highest standard of patient care and sterile technique during procedures. You'll be responsible for preparing instruments, maintaining a sterile field, and providing hands-on support throughout surgical operations.
Responsibilities
Prepare operating theatres and instruments before surgery
Assist the surgeons during procedures and maintain sterile equipment
Monitor patient safety and respond quickly to surgical team needs
Collaborate with anaesthetic and recovery teams for smooth patient care
Qualifications & Requirements
Current AHPRA registration
Previous experience in a theatre/surgical setting
Strong background in one or all of these areas: orthopaedic, neuro, cardiac, or robotic surgery (scrub/scout)
Strong understanding of infection control and sterile technique
Excellent teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills
