Primary objective
The Director Recovery Funding actively leads the development of frameworks and implementation of strategic policy
relating to disaster recovery funding programs in the Northern Territory.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Ensure the NT Government has a comprehensive policy framework and supporting systems that facilitate compliance
within national disaster recovery funding programs.
2. Lead and coordinate Territory-level policy related to disaster recovery funding, including planning and managing a
significant program of policy and reform work.
3. Prepare major policy papers, submissions and briefs on complex policy issues, including strategies to maximise national
disaster recovery funding following whole-of-government supported emergency events.
4. Establish and maintain effective collaborations and strategic alliances with key stakeholders across Government and the
broader sector (Territory and national).
5. Lead and manage the performance of a small team to deliver positive policy and financial outcomes for the Territory.
6. Represent the Department on intra and inter-agency committees and national working groups relating to recovery
funding.

Selection criteria
Essential
1. Proven experience in leading complex, multi-stream projects and delivering coordinated policy and operational programs.
2. Demonstrated experience in developing and reviewing policy frameworks, including interpreting national policy
requirements and aligning settings to strengthen compliance and governance.
3. Experience in developing and implementing procedural guidelines that enable consistent application of policy.
4. Proven leadership capability, including the ability to manage resources to deliver outcomes within specified timeframes.
5. Highly developed written communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to consult, negotiate, and
influence effectively across government and key partners.
6. Proven ability to exercise sound judgement and manage sensitive matters, providing clear and authoritative advice to
senior leaders.
7. Demonstrated ability to relate to staff at all levels including interacting effectively with people from diverse cultures.
Desirable
1. Knowledge of the Northern Territory emergency management arrangements, national disaster recovery principles and/or
recovery funding programs.
2. Relevant tertiary qualifications.
