The School values co-curricular involvement and provide a wide variety of opportunities for staff in this regard.PositionPOSITION TITLE: Maintenance OfficerREPORTS TO: Maintenance SupervisorDEPARTMENT: FacilitiesCLASSIFICATION: Full-TimeOverview / Basic FunctionBASIC FUNCTION: Provide a wide range of services across campuses including (but not limited to), building maintenance work, support to events/functions, office relocations on campuses, room set up and refurbishment, grounds maintenance tasks, assistance with delivery of equipment.ResponsibilitiesProvide 'all round' support to the functional operations of facilities maintenance.
Be flexible in an often-changing work environment and undertake the full range of duties as scheduled by the Maintenance Supervisor or their delegate.
Work independently and as a team as required.You are responsible for:Undertake general Building maintenance work including handyman tasks as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor to ensure the School assets and property are kept to a high standard.Undertaking general services across the School (e.g. office moves for staff, set up for events and functions, assist with furniture relocation).
Provide support to Contractors & Service providers.
Assist other Trades staff; Builders, Plumbers, or Electricians, as required.Ensure Safe Work Methods and good housekeeping practices are followed to ensure the safety of the workplace in the execution of tasks.Perform minor maintenance and servicing of tools and equipment used in the performance of duties.Perform pre-use inspections & Fleet Vehicle cleaning, washing and minor maintenance to ensure vehicles & buggies are fit for purpose.Undertake general disposal of redundant items as required, including clearing rubbish from the School campus and properties to maintain high presentation standards.Ensure all documentation (e.g. job cards, timesheets, consignments, MSDS, and goods received) is promptly and accurately completed/maintained.Be proactive in identifying opportunities for improvement and provide recommendations to the Maintenance Supervisor.Be proactive in addressing emergent issues within your area of responsibility.Any other duties as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.Contribute to regular meetings: participate in toolbox meetings to communicate, prioritise and ensure safe performance of duties.Contribute to the improvement of School safety by identifying and reporting observations to the Maintenance Supervisor and attend site meetings as directed.Required Skills / Abilities / KnowledgeKnowledge of Workplace, Health and Safety requirements and ability to work in compliance with WH&S provisions.Ability to plan, organise, resolve problems, and prioritise work to meet strict deadlines; accommodate urgent work with limited guidance in a collaborative team environment.Demonstrated work ethic and attention to detail with the ability to liaise with staff and clients at all levels.Ability to act on initiative and address unexpected problems.Willingness to take personal responsibility for standard of work carried out.Ability to undertake any training relevant to the role.Manual handling and physical activity are an inherent requirement; maintain suitable level of physical fitness and health.Required Qualifications / ExperienceExperience in the maintenance of buildings and fixtures and some construction experience.Required Licences / CertificatesWorking with Children Check (Blue Card)Police CheckOpen Manual Driver's with an "LR" (light rigid) or higher License – desirableSafeguarding Children and Young PeopleThe School takes child protection seriously, and as a staff member or volunteer of The Rockhampton Grammar School, you are required to meet the behaviour standards outlined in our Practice and Behaviour Guidelines.
