Job Summary
As a senior electrical engineer, you will plan, develop, review electrical engineering design work, produce drawings and documentation, and prepare design estimates for projects. You will coordinate with clients, facilitate technical discussions, review key electrical drawings, calculations, and bid summaries, solve complex technical issues, and ensure designs comply with all regulations and standards.
Major Responsibilities
* Plan, develop, coordinate and review design work within a small-size electrical design group on medium-sized projects or assignments supporting the global business unit.
* Produce drawings and documentation in accordance with established design scope, including single line diagrams, schematics, block diagrams, general arrangements, layouts (equipment, earthing, cable routing, lighting) and installation details.
* Ensure electrical systems designs comply with applicable installation codes, regulations and standards.
* Coordinate and interface with the day‐to‐day technical work of electrical engineers, scientists, specialists, designers and drafters.
* Communicate complex technical issues and recommend solutions to upper management.
* Facilitate technical discussions with third parties (client, suppliers, regulators).
* Prepare or oversee the preparation of electrical design estimates and work plans in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget, and manage implementation and performance accordingly.
* Develop engineering department procedures (EDPs), Bechtel design guides and appropriate Bechtel Standard Computer Applications (BSAPs) and administrative practices.
* Coordinate with client representatives to obtain approval on phases of work.
* Review key electrical engineering drawings, calculations and bid summaries.
* Mentor electrical designers and drafters by providing on‐the‐job training for their professional development.
Education and Experience Requirements
Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8‐10 years of relevant experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills
* Knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, design criteria, guides & procedures, and codes relevant to the electrical discipline.
* Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team for EPC/EPCM projects.
* Proficiency in electrical discipline with the ability to resolve a wide range of issues.
* Experience in the instrumentation discipline is highly regarded.
* Extensive MicroStation and/or AutoCAD as well as 3D modelling skills are essential.
* Supplemental experience in SmartPlant 3D, Tekla, 3D Lighting design, SmartPlant Electrical and SmartPlant Instrumentation is highly regarded.
* Advanced knowledge of electrical and instrumentation design and drafting techniques, engineering drawings, reading of drawings, and reproduction methods used by the discipline.
