Based in Launceston, this is an opportunity to further strengthen the MAIB's cybersecurity resilience, enhance system reliability, and support key technology initiatives as part of a small, collaborative ICT team.
Your new role
Reporting to the ICT Manager, the ICT Cyber & Operations Officer helps maintain and improve the organisation's cybersecurity posture, support ICT operations, and deliver compliance, governance, and operational activities. You'll work closely with internal stakeholders and external ICT partners to ensure systems remain secure, reliable, and aligned with business needs.
Key responsibilities:
* Strengthen cybersecurity and information security across processes, systems, and infrastructure.
* Coordinate cybersecurity audits, vulnerability management, and incident response.
* Assist/lead ICT projects, key operational activities, or governance priorities.
* Support other ICT initiatives, including risk management and policy development.
* Collaborate with external contractors to maintain secure and reliable ICT services.
What you'll need to succeed
You are an ICT professional or cybersecurity specialist who thrives in a hands-on, collaborative environment. You understand technology operations, security frameworks, and governance principles, and enjoy combining strategy with practical delivery.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
* Qualifications or equivalent industry experience in Information Technology or Cybersecurity.
* Proven experience in ICT operations, infrastructure and systems support.
* Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks (e.g. NIST, Essential Eight).
* Experience with various Microsoft technologies, both on premise and cloud.
* Capability to learn and support a broad range of systems and software solutions.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
