Temporary Part Time – 19 hours per week until 31 March 2026

Salary Range: $73,617.96 - $78,471.29 (pro rata) per annum plus 12% superannuation

As Latrobe Catchment Landcare Network Facilitator, you will be employed by Latrobe City Council in partnership with Latrobe Catchment Landcare Network to develop and support local partnerships to increase awareness of Landcare within the Latrobe Catchment and enhance communication strategies across the network area.
Latrobe Catchment Landcare Network encourages community activities that support environmental and farming sustainability and provides leadership and management to strengthen and build capacity in the Latrobe Landcare community.
About the Role
As one of two Landcare Facilitators in the network you will support the 19 local Landcare Groups across the catchment to enable and assist them to achieve their goals.
You will be involved with local communities to help promote and restore the local environment.
The Network works with citizen science, local school groups or similar organisations to run events to help educate our community on local issues including but not limited to tree planting, biodiversity, weed and pest management and other land management activities.
Responsibilities include:
- Supporting the achievement of objectives set by the Latrobe Catchment Landcare Network (LCLN) Board, through the completion of activities as directed by the LCLN.
- Strengthening the capacity of Landcare member groups and networks by supporting information sharing, cooperation, collaboration, and networking across the region.
- Developing and supporting local partnerships by assisting groups with prioritising tasks, raising awareness of Landcare within the broader community, and improving communication strategies throughout the Latrobe Catchment.
- Building and maintaining partnerships with other organisations to achieve LCLN Board goals.
- Participating in and/or facilitating meetings that are outside the span of ordinary hours of work.
About You
We are seeking an enthusiastic individual with the ability to actively promote awareness, engagement and participation in the preservation and enhancement of Latrobe City’s natural environment.
You will have:
- Relevant technical qualifications in Natural Resource Management (NRM), environmental science, community development or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Knowledge of natural resource management NRM and sustainable land practices, particularly in rural and peri-urban settings.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with proven ability to build effective partnerships across community, industry and government.
- Ability to support grant writing, fundraising and financial accountability for community projects.
- Well-developed organisational skills with the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
- Computer literacy, including use of Microsoft Office and online communication tools.
- Current driver’s licence.
