We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Data Scientist to join our Operational DER Management team.
Job Description
This role is pivotal in developing processes and tools to integrate Distributed Energy Resources (DER) into our operational systems. You will work with large, complex datasets to understand DER behaviors and their impact on power system security.
Key responsibilities include:
* Conducting quantitative analysis of large DER datasets to understand behaviors during power system disturbances.
* Developing and enhancing tools for DER data analysis.
* Collaborating with stakeholders including Distribution Network Service Providers (DNSPs), Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), and third-party data providers.
* Investigating and interpreting data from sources such as the DER Register, Clean Energy Regulator, smart meters, PMUs, and high-speed power quality meters.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* Extensive professional experience in a related discipline.
* Tertiary qualifications in electrical engineering, data science, computer science, or similar.
* Proven experience working with DER datasets in Australia—ideally at a DNSP, university, OEM, or data provider.
* Strong programming skills (e.g., Python, R, Grafana).
* Expertise in handling large datasets including NMI-level DER generation data, AMI data, and PMU data.
