Our client specialises in Design and Construction, specialising in Childcare sectors.
As a Lading Hand, your role is to ensure the completion of every project conforms to the agreed budget (cost management), time frames (completion schedules) and level of quality (Finishes free of defects) reporting to the Site Supervisor or State Manager.
**_Duties Include-_**
**Programming**
- Assist the site supervisor / state manager in delivering construction / works.
- Participate in reviewing the program on a weekly basis.
- Ensure the agreed program is met for each component of the project and report any variances.
**Project Safety**
- Ensure all aspects of the site and work to be completed is consistent with the agreed Project Safety Plan
- Carry out site safety inductions for all employees and sub-contractors
- Ensure everyone entering the site to work has the Victorian Construction Industry General Induction Card
- Ensure that appropriate PPE is always worn by all employees, subcontractors and visitors
- Ensure the correct licenses are held for each person on site who is operating equipment that needs a license
- Ensure workers are qualified to undertake the role assigned to them
- Ensure the site is always kept in a neat and tidy condition
**Subcontractors**
- Co-ordinate the activities of all subcontractors by regular briefings and checks.
- Assist the Site Supervisor in compiling scope of works and tender lists for each trade.
- Hold regular co-ordination meetings with all subcontractors and ensure minutes are kept.
- Ensure the quality of workmanship and materials supplied by subcontractors meet the requirements of the contract documents
- Ensure the subcontractors fulfill the works required under their scope of works included in the overall Works Documents. Notify the Site Supervisor of any variances immediately.
**Material Purchases**
- Ensure all requisitions are planned and submitted in advance of works commencing
- Seek the State Managers approval for the purchase of goods
**Project Security**
- Ensure all property is always securely stored
- Ensure that the site is secured, and all temporary fences are in place at the completion of each workday
**Safety and Compliance**
- To be conversant with our clients Quality, Environment, Safety, Drug and Alcohol Policies, HSQE Management System and Emergency Plan.
- Ensure that you work safely in accordance with any relevant Safe Work Method Statements and/or SOPs
- Specific HQSE Management System responsibilities are as documented in the Management Manual.
**Core requirements**:
- Demonstrated experience, working on commercial projects
- Carpentry experience and qualification
- Strong organisational, numeracy, literacy, and communication skills
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Permanent Australian resident or eligible to work in Australia
