**About Us**

The Youth Justice Team provides community-based supervision and a range of case management and support services for young people who are appearing before, or have been sentenced by, the Children's Court, Children's Koori Court, and adult criminal courts and who have been placed on youth justice supervised orders. The team promotes the personal development of young offenders and contributes to the reduction of crime in the community.

**About the Role**

**About You**

To be successful in this role you will have:

- A passion for contributing to the rehabilitation of young people in the justice system
- understanding of the youth justice system, the _Children, Youth and Families Act 2005_ and associated policies and guidelines
- knowledge of the principles of case management with the ability to utilise a range of assessments and interventions relevant to the background and needs of the young person
- empathy and cultural awareness including an appreciation of different cultures
- confidence in managing stakeholders, negotiating effectively to develop and implement solutions.

A Bachelor of Social Work or Diploma in Community Services Work is highly desirable. Other tertiary qualifications at Diploma level or above will be considered only if they include units of study in case management/casework practice and have had supervised practical work placements.

A full driver's licence is required due to the need to respond to emergencies across the state at short notice and outside business hours as required.

A current employee Working with Children Check (WWCC) card is required and will need to be provided prior to commencement of employment by the applicant. Currency will need to be maintained by the employee for the period of employment.

**_ FOR INTERNAL VPS EMPLOYEES:_**

**IMPORTANT INFORMATION**:
The department is committed to providing and maintaining a working environment which is safe and without risk to the health of its employees consistent with the department's obligations under the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 (Vic). Therefore, there is a requirement that all DJCS employees be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to undertake duties outside of their homes.

At interview stage and prior to commencement of employment with the department, you will need to provide evidence that you are vaccinated against COVID-19 with **three doses** of a COVID-19 vaccine.

Upon commencement of employment with the department you will be required to provide evidence that you have an up-to-date vaccination status within the timelines specified by the department into the DJCS Service Portal. This includes evidence of three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine required by the department (from time to time).

Acceptable evidence includes:
1. COVID-19 digital certificate or ATAGI exemption certificate (available via your myGov account)

2. Your immunisation history statement (available via your myGov account)

Other documentation outside the above will not be accepted as evidence of having received your COVID-19 vaccine doses.
