The Company
Sanitarium is a progressive and dynamic business that is Australian owned and produces Australia’s leading breakfast products – Up & Go, So Good, Alternative Dairy Co range and Australia’s favourite breakfast Weet-Bix.
About the Role
We are seeking a Group Financial Accountant to join the central finance function of the Sanitarium Health & Wellbeing Group, supporting a diverse portfolio of entities across Australia, New Zealand and international operations.
This is a financial accounting role for someone who understands the full financial reporting lifecycle — from transactional and general ledger integrity, through group reporting and consolidations, to statutory accounts and external audit.
The role is suited to a self‑driven financial accountant who can independently interpret financial information, identify issues, and apply accounting concepts with sound professional judgement. You will work closely with the Treasury Manager and broader finance stakeholders, but the role is fundamentally focused on group financial accounting, reporting and audit readiness.
You will be expected to pick up complex financial files, understand how the numbers flow through the group, and ensure accuracy and control with minimal supervision — escalating matters appropriately when required.
This is a 12‑month contract to cover maternity leave.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare consolidated group financial reporting.
* Maintain group cashflow, debt and equity registers.
* Support group recharge processes.
* Help coordinate Sanitarium Group financial audits.
* Perform accounting and administrative functions for multiple Sanitarium entities.
* Prepare and maintain Treasury and Advisory and Legal Team budget, forecasts and reporting.
* Support ACNC reporting, group policy compliance and related governance obligations.
* Identify and resolve accounting issues, maintaining strong financial controls and data integrity.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
* Tertiary qualification in Accounting or Business.
* CPA/CA qualified or actively progressing toward membership.
* A minimum of 7+ years’ relevant accounting experience, ideally with large or complex group environments.
* Experience in consolidations, complex reconciliations and multi-entity accounting.
* Advanced Excel skills (formulas, modelling, dashboards).
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* High attention to detail, accuracy and professional scepticism.
* Proven ability to prioritise, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
* A proactive, self-driven mindset, with strong problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills.
* Experience in, or exposure to, not‑for‑profit or values‑based organisations (desirable but not essential)
All applicants must be able to demonstrate that they have the legal right to work in Australia.
