Registered Nurse - Intensive Care - Transition to Specialty Practice
Location: Calvary Mater Newcastle, NSW. Program: ICU TTSP 2026. Unit: Intensive Care Unit (6 bed Level 5).
What You Will Do
* The Intensive Care Nursing Transition to Specialty Practice (ICU TTSP) program is designed to support nurses transitioning to roles within NSW Health adult Intensive Care Units (ICUs). It is a state-wide program developed by the Health Education and Training Institute (HETI) in close partnership with the Agency for Clinical Innovation Intensive Care NSW and runs over 12 months.
* The program is arranged into five learning pathways. Each pathway includes Online My Health Learning resources; submission of 8 Learning Portfolios; participation in 4 locally delivered study days; Work Integrated Learning (WIL) activities; and capability assessments.
* This program is offered at 0.8 FTE for 12 months, with an 8-week rotation to the John Hunter Hospital Intensive Care Unit. At the completion of the 12 months, you have the option of a permanent position.
Role Details
* Temporary Part-Time (32 Hours per week).
* Salary Classification: Registered Nurse Year 1 - 8.
* Remuneration: $36.39 - $51.09 per hour + superannuation + annual leave loading + salary packaging options.
* Fixed Term Part-Time (12 months) with the same terms above.
Unit and Workplace
Calvary Mater Newcastle, Intensive Care Unit. The unit is a 6 bed Level 5 tertiary unit providing complex support to a broad range of specialties including Oncology, Haematology, Toxicology, Surgical and Medical.
Qualifications
* Registered nurse authorised to practice by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
* Demonstrated recent clinical experience in an acute care and/or hospital setting.
* Ability to work unsupervised, proficiently and in an organised manner during periods of high demand.
* Ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
