The Role
We're looking for a passionate and detail-focused Content Navigator to join our Canberra newsroom. Reporting to the Content Navigation Lead, you will play a key role in documenting Australia's history and ensuring it remains accessible for generations to come. As part of a collaborative national Content Navigation team, you will work closely with journalists and producers to make ABC content easy to find, share, and reuse across platforms.
Your day will be varied: managing metadata, maintaining digital archives, and supporting daily editorial output to keep the ABC's rich content accurate, discoverable, and ready to bring stories to life. You will also assist with content appraisal and retention, support migration across systems such as Stratus and CoDA, and contribute to improving metadata quality and consistency across news workflows. This role offers flexible hybrid working arrangements, working onsite at both Canberra ABC offices and two rostered offsite days per week.
This role includes weekend shifts (approximately one per month), rotating late shifts (approximately one per week) and some Public Holidays.
About You
You are organised, adaptable, and passionate about preserving the stories that shape Australia's identity. With excellent communication skills and a systems-savvy, analytical mindset, you thrive in a quick paced newsroom where priorities can shift quickly.
Qualifications
* Qualifications or equivalent experience in Library, Archives, Information Management, or Broadcasting.
* Strong understanding of content management and metadata principles, applied across a range of digital media formats.
* Proven problem solving and analytical skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively and maintain accuracy under pressure.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a proactive and flexible approach to teamwork.
A commitment to the ABC's Values - Aim High, Think Differently, Take Ownership, Deliver Together - and to fostering an inclusive, respectful, and diverse workplace.
