TheTasmanian operation is looking for passionate Quality Assurance and SafetyCoordinator to join the Costa team. This is a permanent role based inTasmania.
As a partof a fast-paced team, the
Quality Assurance and Safety Coordinator
coordinates and implements the operation of the food safety and workplace health and safety functions withinthe business and drives a positive quality and safety culture. This roleprovides guidance and support to operations, harvest and post-harvestdepartments and has regular communication with all departments. The QualityAssurance and Safety Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day workplacehealth and safety activities and contributes to maintaining the food safetyprogram. They support the line management team in achieving compliance toexternal and company procedures, KPI's and legislative obligations throughcoaching, training, administration, research, and encouragement. The duties andresponsibilities of this job are outlined below and may vary from time to timein line with the needs of the business.
About theopportunity:
You will beresponsible for the operation of the Food Safety and Work Health and Safetyfunctions within the Berry Category, across Northwest Tasmania. This roleprovides guidance and support to operations, harvest and post-harvestdepartments and has regular communication with all departments.
You will beregularly out and about amongst our teams todrive a positive quality andsafety culture. This may include, supporting picking crews with qualitychallenges, undertaking a risk assessment in our pack shed, or supporting withan incident investigation amongst our farm operations teams. You will become atrusted member of the operation and called upon to support a variety ofunpredictable situations daily.
Duringharvest (October to April) work hours must be flexible to accommodate theseasonal demand. This will include some early starts and weekend work. Outsideof peak season, working hours will be standard, Monday to Friday.

In thisrole you will be responsible for the following:
FoodSafety:
Implement proactivedocumentation changes; keep documentation systems up to date, controlledand perform annual reviews.
Conduct internalaudits, report incidents and audit findings in electronic systems.
Food Safety Standards:Develop understanding of Global Food Safety Initiative standards that thesite currently benchmarks such as Global GAP, Freshcare and HARPS.
Product Quality:Understanding of product defects and the effects on the end product andensuring that retail customer specifications are met.
Conduct incident andhazard monitoring, investigations, and root cause analysis.
Risk assesses a varietyof situations to make critical decisions.
Maintain an InternalAudit, Sampling and Testing, Retention and Calibration Schedules.
Provide strong andconsistent messaging and training to large groups of people from alldepartments across the business.
Assisting the team inthe management of HACCP and pre-requisite programs.
Work Healthand Safety:
Support employees andmanagers to achieve best practice Safety, Health and Environment bycontributing to the implementation of the safety management system andprocesses.
Be familiar with,understand and adhere to Company OHS&W policies and procedures in linewith the standards of Costa Group and the requirements of the OH&SAct.
Work in accordance withthe policies and procedures of Costa Group, as amended from time to time.
Contribute by makingpositive suggestions on improvements to safe work practices.
Conduct site safetyinspections as per the schedule, report outcomes and facilitate correctiveactions.
Incident reporting andinvestigations.
Disseminating WHSrelated information and educational materials to employees
Provide input into thecontinual improvement of Return to Work and Injury Management policies,procedures, systems and processes.
Workers Compensationand return to work coordination
Actively support injurymanagement and return to work processes and promote the health benefits ofgood Return to Work outcomes.
New Employee andContractor Safety Inductions
Undertaking riskassessments in collaboration with relevant department manager
Developing andreviewing SWP's in collaboration with relevant departments and otherregions within the Berry category.
Liaise with medicalpractitioners and allied health professionals to achieve the best outcomesfor injured workers.
About You:
Thesuccessful candidate could have a strong background in both areas, or just oneof them. For the right candidate, we are willing to support training in eitherquality assurance or work health and safety dependent upon previous experience.
We arelooking for someone who has experience/qualifications in:
Work Health and Safety(Tasmania specific experience is beneficial),
and/or
Workers' compensationlegislation and return to work coordination,
and/or
Quality Assurance andFood Safety/HACCP qualifications
Inaddition, we are looking for candidates with the following:
Strong literacy andcommunication skills including experience with SharePoint, Microsoft Wordand Excel.
Qualifications in FirstAid and CPR (desired but not essential).
Strong knowledge ofinternal auditing and the application of corrective and preventativeactions.
Experience in providestrong and consistent messaging and training to large groups of people.
Understanding ofquality and safety IT systems such as, Sky trust, Caramba & SharePointadministration.
Ability to balanceconflicting priorities.
A solution focusedattitude and a willingness to learn.
Driver's license.
