Role Overview

As the Cargo Services Development Manager, you will play a vital role in identifying and supporting shipping and logistics solutions that grow and sustain cargo volumes through Flinders Port Holdings' ports and associated services.

You will assist with the development of cargo quotes and tenders, identify and implement storage and shipping solutions for clients, and manage invoicing for storage services. The role includes developing solutions for bulk and break bulk cargo including grain, cement, car carriers, and other non-containerised materials.

You will collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to identify end-to-end supply chain solutions that improve efficiency, add value for clients, and support Flinders Port Holdings' strategic growth. Your ability to analyse supply chains, provide commercial insights, and deliver tailored transport and storage options will be key to your success. A strong understanding of port operations and the broader logistics and supply chain environment is essential.

Key Responsibilities

Identify and implement supply chain solutions that enhance cargo flows through FPH ports;

Work with Finance Department to ensure accurate Cargo and Shipping budgeting forecasting and management of cargo pricing and storage;

Work with internal stakeholders to ensure that port facilities, berth availability, and stevedoring capabilities align with customer cargo handling needs;

Develop supply chain value propositions and business cases to attract and retain cargo through FPH ports;

Build and maintain relationships with cargo owners, service providers, and industry stakeholders;

Monitor and analyse industry trends, regulations, and technologies to ensure service offerings remain competitive and compliant;

Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and supply chain partners, including shipping agents, transport operators, and logistics providers; and

Conduct supply chain analysis to uncover opportunities for efficiency or growth and recommend integrated solutions.

About you

Your skills and experience will include -

Degree in Commerce or Business or equivalent levels of skills and knowledge gained through industry experience;

Advanced finance management/ budgeting skills;

Previous experience in the ports/maritime or logistics industries;

Strong customer focus and commitment to service excellence;

Advanced written and verbal communication skills including the ability to write proposals/recommendations, and investment rationales;

Strong negotiation skills; and

Ability to identify opportunities and risks.
