We are seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join our Finance Team in Wangara. This is a hands-on role where you will own the end-to-end payroll function using Definitiv, supporting a workforce across multiple projects. You will be part of a stable, collaborative team and report directly to the Finance Manager.
This position is perfect for someone who enjoys accuracy, structure and autonomy in their work, and who can step in to support AP and AR occasionally when required.
What you'll be doing
• Processing end-to-end payroll in Definitiv for weekly and salaried employees
• Ensuring compliance with awards, EBAs, allowances, overtime and statutory obligations
• Maintaining employee records, new starter documentation and terminations
• Handling payroll queries professionally and in a timely manner
• Preparing payroll reports for the Finance Manager and project teams
• Assisting AP and AR as needed (ideal but not essential)
• Contributing to continuous improvement of payroll processes and systems
What we're looking for
• Previous experience as a Payroll Officer (construction, civil or mining preferred)
• Strong working knowledge of payroll legislation, superannuation and taxation
• Experience using Definitiv is highly desirable
• High attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines confidently
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• AP/AR exposure is beneficial but not mandatory
