Overview:
The role of Critical Environment Field Service Engineer is a key position within our organization.
This professional will be responsible for delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for online services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform.
Our infrastructure comprises over 100 datacenters and 1 million servers, managed by a team of subject matter experts supporting services for more than 1 billion customers and 20 million businesses in over 90 countries worldwide.
Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with data center business units and service-level policies for Edge Critical Environments (CE), engaging with appropriate teams to execute CE tasks or projects, managing CE programs associated with area of responsibility, and reviewing and advising on Edge contract process.
Additionally, this engineer will deliver new Edge Datacenters in tandem with partners, providing onsite expertise and reviews, follow safety and security policies and procedures, and participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) process as appropriate.
Service Delivery involves maximizing Critical Environment (CE) availability, overseeing day-to-day operations and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment in leased Datacenters, reducing high-impact and human-error Critical Environment (CE) related incidents, acting as an escalation point for facilities-related issues, coordinating CE audits and compliance verification, and establishing strong working relationships with Engineering Groups and landlord partners.
Key responsibilities also include sharing best CE practices, assisting others in learning role, process, procedures, providing mentorship across data centers for CE specific expertise, suggesting ways for reducing risk of performing maintenance, contributing to a positive team environment by learning and adopting best practices, and embodying our culture and values.
