About the role: As Evaluation Officer (quantitative focus), you will play a key role in supporting evaluation projects within the Victorian Government (Department of Health and Department of Families, Fairness and Housing). Your primary responsibilities will involve assisting with the design and implementation of evaluations, using various methodologies to contribute to the development of recommendations that align with government priorities. You will work closely with team members to gather and analyse data, helping to address complex issues with practical, evidence-based insights. Your work will contribute to informed decision-making and the improvement of service delivery. In this role, you will focus on contributing to the completion of projects, managing your tasks efficiently, and integrating feedback to continuously improve your work. Your efforts will support the strategic and operational goals of the Victorian Government. About you: Can you demonstrate the following? Support evaluation efforts: Assist in the design and implementation of various evaluations (e.g. program, impact, formative, summative, developmental). Contribute to the development and application of logic models, theories of change, and evaluation frameworks to support effective evaluation processes. Monitor program effectiveness: Participate in evaluations of key programs, policies and services to assess their effectiveness, efficiency, and long-term impact. Assist in developing and implementing monitoring frameworks, outcomes, and performance metrics. Assist with evaluations: Support impact evaluations for government programs. Use basic statistical methods such as cross-tabulation and introductory regression models under the guidance of more senior staff. Support quantitative data analysis: Contribute to cost-benefit and trend analyses to help inform evaluation findings and policy recommendations. Work closely with team members to ensure accurate and relevant data is analysed. Assist with qualitative research activities: Support the collection of qualitative data through interviews, focus groups, and observations, working closely with more experienced team members. Qualifications / Specialist Expertise Tertiary qualifications in quantitative analysis, statistics, public health, evaluation, epidemiology, psychology, health and social sciences, public policy, economics, or another discipline with a strong statistical component would be preferred. Applicants with a tertiary qualification in other fields but with work experience in the above fields and experience in quantitative evaluation techniques would also be considered also suitable. Experience and expertise in program or policy evaluation, particularly quasi-experimental and micro-econometric methods like difference-in-difference, instrumental variables etc. Experience in economic evaluation and cost-benefit analysis Project management: The ability to prepare and submit schedules for projects, monitor performance against these schedules and deal with administrative problems that arise.
