Overview

Protective Services Group provides static and mobile security services to state government departments. Our employees are highly motivated, professional members of the Queensland Police Service and provide a valuable service to community safety in State Government buildings and precincts. Our employees work across Queensland in locations such as Brisbane, North and South Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Gladstone, Rockhampton, Bundaberg, Ipswich and Toowoomba.

Key Accountabilities
* Liaise with clients, contractors (including building maintenance and emergency repairs), building occupants and members of the general public to deliver consistent high-quality security services.
* Exercise functions and powers pursuant to Police Powers and Responsibilities Act 2000, in addition to carrying out the procedures and instructions outlined within the Protective Services Quality Procedures, and site Building Manuals.
* Review, develop and maintain procedures for general building security, and the safety of persons within the building, including controlling the entry of personnel to, and the parking of vehicles in State Buildings in accordance with Police Powers and Responsibilities Act 2000.
* In accordance with Australian Standards 3745 and the Building Fire Regulations 2008 coordinate training and provide direction in emergency procedures and building safety programs, such as Occupant Emergency Program, including functioning as the Chief Warden.
* Review functionality effectiveness and operate computerised systems including a Building Management and Security Access System to provide reports on electrical, mechanical, fire, lift and security systems to contractors, Property Managers and tenants as required.
* Develop and maintain a close liaison with clients, Building Managers, other emergency service personnel including participating as a member of the Emergency Planning Committee.
* Foster an equitable, fair and customer focused workplace by providing leadership, supervision and development to subordinate officers.
Role Requirements
* Current First Aid Certificate
* Successful completion of the Protective Services Officers Course, to be facilitated by Protective Services Group, is a component of the selection process and a prerequisite for appointment to this position.
* Appointees will be required to work an average 38 hours per week and work 8-hour shifts - Monday to Friday. You will accrue a Rostered Day Off (RDO) every 28-day period. Casual and Part-Time work is also available upon request and where operationally viable.
