The Senior Network Engineer is tasked to design, build, and operate secure, high‑availability networking across our branch, data centre and public cloud environments. The role combines deep Cisco networking expertise (switching/wireless) and Palo Alto firewalls with strong cloud networking across Azure, AWS and GCP. The engineer will also partner effectively with our third‑party managed networks support organisation to deliver outcomes and continuous improvement.
This role will be a fixed term role of 12 months and will be working at least 3 days per week from our Braeside Manufacturing Site in Victoria and 2 days from home.
Responsibilities
- Design and Implement Cloud Network Foundations : Architect and document secure, scalable networking solutions across Azure, AWS, and GCP, including routing, peering, DNS, load balancing, NAT, firewalling, and private connectivity.
- Deliver Reliable and Secure Network Services : Ensure high availability, performance, and security across enterprise sites and public cloud environments through continuous improvement and monitoring.
- Modernise and Harden Network Infrastructure : Upgrade LAN, WAN, and remote access networks; enhance internet egress controls and enforce segmentation and policy hygiene.
- Operate and Optimise Network Security Platforms : Manage Palo Alto next‑gen firewalls and associated security features including threat prevention, URL filtering, GlobalProtect VPN, and policy tuning.
- Automate Network Deployments and Configuration : Use Terraform and CI/CD practices to automate network provisioning and configuration management across on‑prem and cloud environments.
- Maintain Operational Excellence : Implement monitoring, alerting, backup/restore procedures, golden templates, and change/incident management best practices.
- Collaborate with Managed Network Providers : Establish engagement rhythms, define SLAs and RACI models, and co‑develop runbooks to ensure effective BAU operations and continuous improvement.
- Document and Support Network Operations : Maintain accurate HLD/LLD documentation, network diagrams, IPAM/DNS records, firewall rulesets, and recovery procedures; support incident, problem, and change management.

Who are you?
- Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience in designing, building, and operating enterprise network environments.
- Proficient in Cisco Catalyst switching, wireless (Catalyst series), Cisco ISE (802.1X/posture), BGP routing, QoS, and spanning technologies.
- Deep knowledge of Palo Alto firewalls including Prisma Access, Panorama, GlobalProtect, policy design, and advanced troubleshooting.
- Demonstrated experience with Azure, AWS, and GCP networking including routing, DNS, load balancing, Private Link/Endpoints, and hybrid connectivity.
- Skilled in using Terraform for network automation and configuration management, with secure CI/CD practices.
- Strong understanding of secure network segmentation, identity‑aware access, and best practices in network security.
- Proven ability to produce high‑quality documentation and effectively engage with stakeholders and vendors.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., AZ‑700, AWS Advanced Networking, PCNSE, CCNP) and experience with AudioCodes SBC, inter‑cloud design, and OT environments.
