About the Opportunity
James Cook University (JCU) is seeking a visionaryAcademic Head, Nursing and Midwiferyto lead a vibrant academic community committed to excellence in education, research, and clinical practice.
Based at our cutting-edge clinical teaching facilities inTownsville or Cairns, you will:
* Provide strategic leadership and academic direction for nursing and midwifery programs.
* Drive innovation in curriculum design, teaching, and research.
* Mentor and support academic staff and students.
* Build strong partnerships with healthcare providers, industry, and community organisations.
* Champion outcomes that improve healthcare in regional, rural, and remote communities.
For the first three years, you will also serve asAcademic Group Head – Nursing and Midwifery, focusing on developing future academic leaders and strengthening industry engagement and research impact.
About you
You are a passionate clinician and academic leader with:
* A postgraduate qualification and current registration as a Nurse (Division 1) and/or Midwife with AHPRA.
* Proven academic leadership in teaching, research, and service.
* A commitment to excellence in nursing and midwifery education.
* A collaborative mindset and a drive to mentor others and foster innovation.
* A desire to make a meaningful difference through education and research.
