Responsibilities
In this role, you will manage and support Aboriginal heritage projects from initial assessment through to project completion, delivering high quality services to our clients. The position will provide support for a heritage team with numerous projects that traverse Historic and Aboriginal cultural heritage in Western Australia.
Roles and responsibilities include:
* Research of digital resources and archives; and use of repositories such as the State Library and State Records Office.
* Field surveys to photograph and document physical attributes of places.
* Managing and collating data, including ensuring quality and accuracy of data.
Our team is based in our Subiaco office and whilst we do offer all our employees Hybrid working arrangements this is a requirement for this role to attend our office or client offices on part days of the week. There may also be some travel required within WA regions from time to time.
Experience
* Undergraduate Degree in History, Anthropology, Architecture, Archaeology, Aboriginal Studies or any related qualifications.
* 3+ years' experience in a heritage related role or other related experience (consultant).
* Consultancy and/or client management experience, including the ability to negotiate outcomes with key stakeholders and manage expectations
* The ability to learn quickly and work effectively under limited supervision or independently.
* Excellent communication and writing skills.
* Experience in historical/anthropological/Aboriginal heritage reporting, such as cultural context reports, heritage surveys prepared by specialist sub-consultants, heritage assessments, regulatory frameworks and heritage management.
* Clear understanding of the Aboriginal Heritage Act 1972 (WA).
* Knowledge of heritage legislation at a local and state level.
* Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills, and the ability to present strategies and material to influence outcomes
* Experience of working collaboratively with Aboriginal, Community Leaders and broad stakeholders is highly desirable
