Our busy client are looking for an experienced transport allocator or fleet controller to join their team
This is an 8am shift start Mon - Fri, but can be flexible on start times if needed
The role will be maintaining and manage an efficient flow of work, ensuring all bookings are despatched in an efficient and timely manner and that they have enough fleet vehicles, including outside hire companies to effectively cover all incoming work within the service offerings of the business
The purpose of the role is to:
* Manage the day to day transport service demands of the customer sites from receipt of transport orders to allocation to drivers, execution and receipt of PoD (proof of delivery)
* Despatch work to drivers in a fair, impartial and professional manner to meet key performance indicators as determined by the company.
* Use of Transport Management Systems to schedule, load build, capacity, route and drop routine optimise the transport orders before allocating to carriers
* Day to day operational exception management to ensure customer DIFOT is achieved
* Provide timely and high quality service to customers that meet or exceeds the service promise
* Use excellent judgement and highly developed analytical skills to deliver high quality decisions
* Develop and maintain good relationships with customer operational staff, carriers and internal staff.
* Monitor driver movements via GPS and maintain awareness of fleet location
* Ensure drivers are logging their times correctly on the mobile application and liaise with the administration department regarding any issues that arise
To be successful in this role you will have:
* minimum 2 years of allocating domestic freight experience
* an understanding of Transport Management Systems and/or Excel skills
* excellent communication skills
* ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
* customer focused mentality
* ability to work occasional weekends
