Job Description

Looking for a role that's more than just a job? This is your chance to support and advocate for workers from Pacific Island nations while they live and work in Australia under the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility Scheme (PALMS).

As a Casual Liaison Officer, you'll play a vital role in ensuring workers feel supported, safe, and connected - both on and off the job.

About the Role

This is a hands-on, people-first position where no two days look the same. You'll be the trusted point of contact for PALMS workers, providing pastoral care and practical support across a range of areas.

This is a casual role, offering flexibility, but it does require availability outside standard business hours to respond to worker needs, arrivals, emergencies, and key support activities.

What You'll Be Doing
* Building strong, supportive relationships with PALMS workers
* Providing pastoral care including support with:
o Medical appointments and wellbeing
o Accommodation and transport
o Workplace matters and advocacy
o Community connection (including church attendance)
* Assisting with arrivals, inductions, and departures
* Being available for after-hours support when required
* Conducting regular check-ins and accommodation inspections
* Supporting worker wellbeing, safety, and productivity
* Acting as a key link between workers, MADEC, and host employers
* Promoting a strong safety culture and supporting WHS processes
About You

You're someone who genuinely cares about people and thrives in a dynamic, community-focused environment.

* Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse communities
* Strong local knowledge and community connections
* Empathy, patience, and a natural ability to build trust
* Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
* The ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
* Confidence using basic computer systems (Word, Excel, email)
Requirements
* Current National Police Check
* Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
* Current driver's licence (essential for transporting workers)
