About the role
The Property Maintenance Officer assumes responsibility for both remedial and preventative maintenance programs within Retirement Living sites. This position ensures the delivery of prompt, high-quality service, consistently adhering to and upholding all pertinent standards. The role encompasses general building duties, including refurbishments and both scheduled and emergency repairs.
A paramount objective of this role is to cultivate a safe and comfortable living environment for residents of Retirement Living sites. The scope of this position may be extended to incorporate other Southern Cross Care (SCC) Properties, Residential and corporate facilities, or clients across the broader organisation.
The role will also necessitate on-call duties as directed by the manager.

About you

The successful candidate will have the following experience, skills and knowledge:
* Building maintenance or handyman services
* Preparing status reports
* Experience working within legislative and other compliance requirements
* Customer service / positive outcomes
* Ability to work autonomously and meet deadlines
* Ability to follow policy, procedures and other guidelines and standards
* Commitment to continuous improvement, creativity, innovation and meeting the needs of residents.
* General knowledge of gardening, landscaping and irrigation.
* General Knowledge of Building or facilities maintenance requirements. This may include BCA/ NCC or AUS/NZS Standards and codes.
* A basic knowledge of the requirements of the Aged Care Standards as are applicable to the role.
