Position: Fleet Manager – Night Shift

Salary: $85,000 to $95,000 plus superannuation per annum

Our client Khushwant Enterprises Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Fleet Manager to join their team located in Tarneit, Victoria.
As a Fleet Manager – Night Shift you will be responsible for the strategic and operational management of Khushwant Enterprises' fleet of trucks.
This senior-level role focuses on ensuring optimal fleet performance through effective maintenance planning, procurement strategies, fuel efficiency monitoring, and cost control.
The Fleet Manager plays a critical role in ensuring that the company's large fleet operates safely, economically, and compliantly at all times.
Key Responsibilities
1. Fleet Strategy and Planning: Develop and implement long-term fleet strategies including acquisition, replacement, and disposal to support operational goals and sustainability targets.
2. Fleet Maintenance Oversight: Design and oversee preventative maintenance schedules to ensure vehicle safety, longevity, and compliance with road transport regulations.
3. Fuel and Cost Efficiency: Monitor vehicle performance and fuel consumption, identify areas for improvement, and implement initiatives to reduce fleet operating costs.
4. Asset Management: Maintain a comprehensive register of all fleet assets, manage vehicle leasing agreements, and ensure accurate documentation of servicing, repairs, and incidents.
5. Compliance and Safety Monitoring: Ensure all vehicles comply with local and national transport regulations, including registration, roadworthiness, and workplace health and safety standards.
6. Data Reporting and Analysis: Generate and interpret fleet reports related to usage, fuel, incidents, downtime, and servicing to inform decision-making and management reporting.
7. Supplier and Contract Management: Negotiate with vehicle suppliers, maintenance service providers, and leasing companies to ensure value for money and quality service delivery.
8. Staff Collaboration: Work closely with the Transport Company Manager and Operations Manager to align fleet availability with transport schedules and business needs.
Requirements:
Qualifications and Experience
1. Diploma or higher in Fleet Management, Automotive Engineering, Logistics, or a related field.
2. Minimum three (3) years’ experience in managing a medium-to-large commercial fleet.
3. Demonstrated experience in fleet procurement, maintenance scheduling, and cost management.
Skills and Competencies
1. Strong analytical and decision-making abilities.
2. Advanced knowledge of fleet management software and tracking systems.
3. Understanding of vehicle mechanics and transport safety regulations.
4. Ability to lead preventative maintenance programs and compliance reviews.
5. Excellent negotiation and contract management skills.
Other Requirements
1. Valid Australian driver’s license (including heavy vehicle endorsement preferred).
2. Availability for on-call emergency vehicle issues or breakdowns.
3. Willingness to travel interstate for supplier engagement or fleet deployment reviews
4. Must be available to work a full-time night shift position.
