Position Overview:
The Mixed Crop Manager is responsible for planning, organising, coordinating and overseeing the production of a variety of crops on a commercial agricultural property. This includes ensuring the efficient and sustainable management of land, resources, equipment, and labour to meet productivity and quality targets in line with environmental, safety, and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and implement crop production plans for cereals, legumes, oilseeds, vegetables, or other seasonal crops.
2. Monitor soil conditions and manage soil fertility through appropriate tillage, fertiliser, and crop rotation strategies.
3. Oversee planting, irrigation, crop maintenance, harvesting, and post-harvest processing activities.
4. Manage pest and weed control programs using integrated pest management (IPM) principles.
5. Analyse yield and production data to inform decisions for crop planning and productivity improvements.
6. Maintain farm equipment and coordinate servicing and repairs.
7. Supervise and coordinate the activities of farm workers, contractors, and seasonal labourers.
8. Monitor compliance with workplace health and safety regulations and environmental policies.
9. Keep records of crop production, inputs, and costs for budgeting, auditing, and reporting purposes.
10. Liaise with suppliers, agronomists, government bodies, and other stakeholders.
Skills and Qualifications:
1. Minimum 2 years' experience in managing diverse crop production on a commercial scale.
2. Strong knowledge of crop husbandry practices, irrigation systems, and machinery use.
3. Demonstrated experience in managing seasonal staff and contractors.
4. Good understanding of Australian biosecurity, WHS, and environmental regulations.
5. Proficient in farm management software and data analysis.
6. Excellent planning, communication, and problem-solving skills.
7. Ability to work in variable weather conditions and adapt to seasonal demands.

Pay: $80,000.00 per year
