Overview
Our client supplies Construction Companies with Structural Steel from stocked items such as Angle Iron, RHS (Rectangular Hollow Steel) and SHS (Square Hollow Steel). They can also Custom Fabricate to client specifications (e.g., T-Bars, H Beams / Universal Beams, Corner Angles).

Location: Rockingham
Working Days: Monday to Friday
Working Hours: 6:00 AM to 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM
The Role
Our client has two main sections at their factory: Custom Fabrication – T-Bars, H Beams & Corner Angles; Angle Iron – Cutting to Length. The 2nd Class Welder / TA will assist 3 production Boiler Maker Welders and carry out the following responsibilities across both departments:
* Working Off Detailed Job Sheets
* Picking Steel for Jobs
* Moving Steel to Cutting Tables or Welding Bays operating Overhead Crane
* Precisely Measuring & Marking Up Steel
* Cutting Steel Using Ban Saw, Plasma Cutting Unit or Hand Held Plasma Cutter
* Laying Out Cut Steel as Per Shop Drawings
* MIG Welding on Bench
* Marking / Naming each beam
* Bundling Completed Steel Orders & Moving to Laydown Area
The work involves straightforward fabrication and welding where most customized steel includes:
* T-Bars Using Flat Bar Steel
* Corner Angles – Welding Angle Iron
* Cleat Welding of H-Beams
The workshop is organized in bays with steel stock, overhead cranes, cutting tables and welding bays. Each order has a detailed job sheet with steel type, plans/shop drawings and quantities. The main role for the 2nd Class Welder / Fabrication TA is to assist team members in carrying out their work.
The Candidate
We are seeking experienced:
* Fabrication TA's with MIG Welding Skills
The successful candidate will be competent in the following:
* Can accurately measure steel from shop drawings
* Use Ban Saw, Drop Saw or Oxy Cutter to cut steel
* MIG Welding – 1G & 2G Positions (Bench Welding)
* Able to Work Off – Plans & Shop Drawings
Remuneration
The pay rates below are casual pay rates where you will initially be working through Staff-Net on a casual basis; after 3 to 6 months, the client may offer a permanent role based on performance and work ethic.
* $35.00 to $45.00 Per Hour (Flat)
