About The Opportunity
Bundaberg Regional Council is seeking a Wastewater Governance Officer for a fixed-term appointment until approx. 2 October 2025. The role supports the Water Services Branch with wastewater reporting, compliance obligations and operational documentation.
Key functions of the role include (but are not limited to):
- Preparing wastewater reporting in accordance with legislative and regulatory requirements.
- Developing and maintaining working relationships with regulatory authorities.
- Assisting with environmental management systems, compliance programs and related documentation.
- Collating and reporting on compliance matters and developing action plans.
- Producing operational statistics and environmental incident reports for internal and State Government requirements.
- Providing technical input and assistance to operational staff and contractors.
- Managing Council’s Biosolids Reuse Program to ensure compliance with the End of Waste Code - Biosolids.
- Assisting with performance standards, measures and tracking, including quality control and critical control point reviews.
- Responding to public enquiries and complaints relating to water and wastewater issues.
- Providing written and verbal reports as required.
- Undertaking additional duties within the scope of the role as directed.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following key selection criteria:
- Diploma or higher qualification relevant to the water & wastewater industry.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the Water and Wastewater field at a technical level.
- Demonstrated ability to problem solve.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare concise and accurate reports both oral and written to a range of stakeholders.
- Sound understanding of Environmental regulations and the Water Supply (Safety and Reliability) Act 2008.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a small group.
- Current “C” class Driver License.
Desired:
- Bachelor of Science or Engineering Degree.
- Demonstrated experience in working with a regulator.
