Overview
Site Support Worker role at UnitingCare Queensland - Pinangba, Cooktown. Casual employment term with shifts ranging from 1 to 5 days per week, including nights and weekends.
Location: Cooktown - Cape York Family Centre. Remuneration: $36.31 per hour (Excludes Casual Allowance) + 12% Super + Penalties & Allowances.

Responsibilities
- Maintain site safety and security by undertaking perimeter checks hourly or as directed.
- Undertake an afternoon lockdown check of buildings and motor vehicles.
- Monitor the service to prevent contraband on-site and ensure clients/visitors are not under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.
- Ensure clients follow service rules and model appropriate behaviour.
- De-escalate client disagreements or conflict with on-call or management support as necessary.
- Respond to emergencies and coordinate with Ambulance, Fire, Police as required; document in the Site Support Worker book or via email.
- Report to/consult with Manager or On-call regarding suspicions of on-site issues or decisions.
- Record observations and actions in the Site Support Worker book and email to relevant team members.
- Provide practical support (transport, Centrelink, banking) as organised by Clinical Team.
- Answer phones and take messages; assist clients with medication in line with medication assist procedures.
- Undertake regular cleaning tasks (frequent touch points, motor vehicles, equipment, bins, sweeping, mopping).
- Support planned diversionary and on-site activities; report maintenance issues.
- Comply with Pinangba and Uniting Care policies and procedures; maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
- Undertake other duties as required, within the scope of the position and applicable obligations.
Qualifications & Skills
- Current First Aid and CPR qualifications or the ability to acquire them.
- Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals, families and communities.
- Sound computer skills; ability to read and send emails and complete online training modules.
- Strong written communication skills; ability to record observations, incidents and hazards.
- Ability to work shift work and weekends; maintain professional boundaries.
- Demonstrated ability to follow policy, procedures and maintain confidentiality.
