About the role
* Undertake expert tree assessments in a planned and consistent manner, based on sound arboriculture practices and relevant knowledge
* Undertake comprehensive investigations, requisite formal/informal tree assessments and where necessary produce high quality professional reports in relation to insurance and risk/liability matters
* Provide education and advice to the community in relation to the value of trees, consistent with Council’s approach to managing trees throughout the Townsville Region based on the TCC Public Tree Management Policy and Public Tree Management Guidelines

Qualifications and skills you will have:
* Diploma in Arboriculture (essential)
* TRAZ or QTRA Certified (desirable)
* Current white card (or the ability to obtain)
* Demonstrated ability to use technology as required to capture, locate, name and map parks and open space assets.
* Experience in tree assessment at a consultancy level
* Demonstrated understanding of managing trees on development sites
* Demonstrated knowledge of tree and plant identification, pest and disease, plant biology, pathology, physiology and biomechanics
* Understanding of wildlife habitat and conservation values, ecology and habitat corridors.
