**The Organisation - GI Cancer Institute**
The GI Cancer Institute raises funds for gastro-intestinal (GI) cancer clinical trials research conducted by its parent organisation, the Australasian Gastro-Intestinal Trials Group (AGITG).
GI cancers 
**are the most common form of cancer**, affecting over 34,000 Australians each year and claiming 
**a devastating 37 lives each day**. AGITG clinical trials research finds better ways to treat gastro-intestinal cancers. Their research has led to the improvement in both the life expectancy and quality of life of people diagnosed with gastro-intestinal cancers.
**The Role - Key Relationships Lead**
The GI Cancer Institute is seeking a 
**highly motivated** and experienced philanthropy relationship specialist to join their successful team. This newly created role is responsible for 
**building and maintaining high quality relationships** with 
**mid / major donors, bequestors, and trusts and foundations**.
Reporting to a Philanthropy Manager who wants you to 
**feel empowered** to lead the program using your fundraising relationship expertise. You will continue to drive the major gifts and bequest strategies forward, 
**recognising opportunities to improve** and grow income through relationships, events and ensuring effective donor engagement and stewardship

**Key Responsibilities** 
- Identify, cultivate, and solicit relationships with mid 
- high value supporters, gift in will donors and trusts and foundations 
- Work closely with the Philanthropy Manager to implement and further develop the major gift and bequest strategies 
- Develop personalised donor communication plans to implement across the programs, including cultivation events and meetings. 
- Utilise Raisers Edge CRM to manage and track donor relationships and revenue 
- Collaborate with the team to achieve fundraising goals 
- Provide regular income, activity and pipeline reports to the Philanthropy Manager
**Your Skills & Attributes** 
- Demonstrated success in a relationship fundraising role (including major gift portfolio management) in the charity sector. 
- Excellent listening and influencing skills 
- Strong emotional intelligence to deal with a diverse audience including major donors, Bequestors, Board members, senior staff and volunteers 
- Confident communication skills, including proposals and reports 
- Initiative-taker who can hit the ground running and build high-quality relationships. 
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. 
- Methodical thinker who can identify and act on improvement opportunities 
- Confident utilising CRM software (they use Raisers Edge) 
- Experience communicating with medical researchers and practitioners, and the ability to translate medical research to donors is highly desirable. 
- Willingness to travel interstate occasionally for donor / team meetings.

**Extra Information** 
This role can be based in Melbourne or Sydney with extremely flexible working options. Their head office is in Camperdown, Sydney but with remote team members and significant donors close to both cities your location can be flexible, if it is easy for you to travel in either of those areas when needed.
