Community Liaison Officer Role Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Community Liaison Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will work within the Sarina Police Division to create and improve working partnerships focused on prevention to deliver sustainable outcomes.
* The role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders including community members, police officers, and other government agencies.
* The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of First Nations cultures and customs, and be able to provide advice and guidance to QPS members on culturally appropriate practices.
* They will also be responsible for identifying opportunities to strengthen community engagement and the development of QPS crime prevention and early intervention strategies.
* The Community Liaison Officer will play a key role in assisting First Nations community members to access policing services and providing advice to QPS members on referral to other community services where necessary.
* They will also positively and proactively engage with First Nations Community Groups, as well as other multicultural and multifaith community groups, to identify and build community based and community led programs and initiatives.
* Additionally, they will identify and link key stakeholders across police, community and government agencies in support of community based/ community led programs and/or initiatives to improve community safety.
Requirements
* Proven experience working in a similar role or within a community-focused organization.
* Strong understanding of First Nations cultures and customs.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Able to work independently and as part of a team.
* Highly organized and able to prioritize tasks effectively.
