The Opportunity
We are seeking an Actuarial Analyst to join our Strategy and Insurance team at Europ Assistance Australia. In this role, you will play a key part in the development, pricing, and ongoing performance monitoring of travel insurance products designed specifically for Australian travellers.
Using your strong analytical skills and attention to detail, you will help navigate the complexities of the Australian insurance landscape and support our mission to remain a trusted and competitive provider in the local market.
Key Responsibilities
* Analyse large and complex datasets relating to the Australian travel insurance market using actuarial and statistical models.
* Support the development and maintenance of pricing models tailored to Australian travel insurance products.
* Identify trends and insights from historical data and emerging market developments.
* Assess and evaluate risks associated with travel insurance coverage within the Australian context.
* Provide clear recommendations to mitigate identified risks.
* Stay up to date with local industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure compliance and competitiveness.
* Contribute to financial forecasts and projections for Australian travel insurance products.
* Collaborate with Finance and Underwriting to support accurate reporting in line with Australian regulatory requirements.
* Assist in preparing reports and presentations for senior management.
* Work closely with Product teams to develop innovative and competitive travel insurance offerings for Australian customers.
* Provide actuarial input during product design and product review processes.
* Analyse product performance and recommend pricing or product adjustments based on market conditions.
* Communicate actuarial insights clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Underwriting, Marketing, Finance, and Product.
* Contribute to a positive, collaborative team culture aligned with Australian workplace values.
About You
You will bring a strong technical foundation, curiosity, and a practical approach to problem-solving. Ideally, you will have:
* A Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related discipline.
* Progress toward actuarial accreditation (e.g. Institute of Actuaries of Australia).
* Proficiency in actuarial modelling software and statistical tools.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an understanding of the Australian business environment.
* High attention to detail and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
* Previous experience in the Australian insurance industry, particularly travel insurance, will be highly regarded.
