About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced Design Lead to join our growing team in Goulburn. This is a permanent, full-time role overseeing a small team within our Stair and Handrail Detailing division. You’ll be responsible for managing and coordinating the production, review, and approval of Fast Tread® stair flight shop drawings, along with other associated product drawings. Flexibility to work from our Sydney, Mittagong or Goulburn office.
Key Responsibilities
•Lead and coordinate the design team, fostering collaboration and ensuring deadlines and quality standards are consistently met.
•Lead the initiation and setup of projects, ensuring all necessary information, documentation, and client requirements are gathered and clearly defined from the outset.
•Prepare detailed, project-specific shop drawing packages tailored to each job, including:
- Schedule stair flights from architectural and structural drawings.
- Produce stair flight, landing, and beam shop drawings using BricsCAD.
- Mark up architectural drawings for compliance and standards.
- Prepare marking plans and structural mark-ups for installation.
- Submit shop drawing packages to clients, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.
•Act as the primary point of contact for clients, architects, engineers, and consultants throughout the review and approval process, facilitating clear communication and timely resolution of queries or revisions.
•Liaise closely with internal teams, including production, logistics, and factory staff, to ensure products are manufactured precisely in accordance with approved shop drawings and meet client expectations.
•Maintain thorough records by systematically archiving all project-specific documentation, correspondence, and revisions for future reference and quality assurance.
About You
You will bring solid design management experience, preferably with a background in construction or steel fabrication. This role demands a proactive leader who can inspire and drive the team to achieve business goals. Key requirements include:
•Skilled in AutoCAD, BricsCAD and strong at reading and interpreting architectural and structural drawings
•Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
•Exceptional communication skills with keen attention to detail
•Proven experience in leadership and team management
