About the Role
As a Security & Communications Estimator, you will play a key role in delivering commercially successful security and communications projects through accurate estimating, technical input, and solution development.
You will work closely with project managers, engineers, suppliers, clients, consultants, and delivery teams to prepare competitive tenders and proposals across a broad range of projects including:
* Electronic security systems (CCTV, access control, intruder alarms)
* Structured cabling and communications systems
* Fibre optic systems
* Integrated technology solutions
This role includes involvement in both Design & Construct and construct-only projects and requires strong technical capability, commercial awareness, and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare accurate quotations, tenders, cost plans, and variations
* Review project specifications, drawings, and technical documentation
* Develop detailed labour, material, subcontractor, and equipment costings
* Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing
* Identify project risks, scope gaps, and value engineering opportunities
* Participate in pre- and post-tender meetings
* Collaborate with project delivery teams to ensure practical and commercially sound solutions
* Assist in developing integrated security and communications solutions aligned with client requirements
* Maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants, builders, and internal stakeholders
* Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes and tender quality
About You
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
* Minimum 3 years’ experience estimating security and/or communications projects
* Experience delivering estimates on projects valued up to $5 million
* Strong understanding of CCTV, access control, intruder alarms, structured cabling, fibre optic systems, and associated infrastructure
* Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications
* Experience pricing Design & Construct security and communications packages
* Strong commercial and contractual awareness
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
* High attention to detail and commitment to quality outcomes
* Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and estimating software/tools
Qualifications & Requirements
* Relevant trade or technical qualification in security, electrical, communications, or similar
* Current NSW Driver Licence
* Current WHS White Card
* Understanding of relevant Australian Standards and industry codes
* Strong commitment to workplace safety
