Surgical Care Coordinator Role


We are seeking a highly skilled and organized individual to fill the position of Surgical Care Coordinator in our perioperative team. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating elective surgery access and patient care, working closely with surgical teams to streamline theatre bookings, and contributing to service improvement.

* Coordinate pre-operative preparation and post-operative care for patients undergoing elective surgery
* Liaise with surgical teams to ensure seamless communication and coordination
* Manage theatre list planning and communication to optimize operating room utilization
* Support quality improvement initiatives and participate in audit meetings to drive continuous improvement
* Act as primary contact for patients and families, providing clear and concise information regarding their surgical journey


The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, excellent communication and problem-solving abilities, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Experience in using clinical systems, such as iPM, is also desirable. Key Responsibilities


* Develop and implement effective strategies to manage patient flow and reduce wait times
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance surgical pathways and improve patient outcomes
* Provide education and support to patients and families regarding pre-operative and post-operative care
* Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of policies and procedures
* Represent the organization at local health forums and conferences to share best practices and stay up-to-date with industry developments



Requirements


* Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
* Experience in using clinical systems, such as iPM
* Knowledge of healthcare policy and funding frameworks
