About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Casual Technical Officer Jewellery to provide specialist technical support for studio and workshop-based activities within the Visual Arts Department. You'll play a key role in maintaining equipment and facilities, ensuring compliance with OH&S standards, and supporting staff and students in the safe and effective use of jewellery-making tools and resources.
This role is an excellent opportunity for graduates of our Jewellery program to apply their skills in a professional setting and gain hands-on experience supporting teaching and learning.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain and monitor jewellery workshop equipment and facilities to industry standards.
* Conduct inductions, supervision, and instruction for staff and students on safe equipment use.
* Coordinate planning, preparation, and storage of equipment and consumables.
* Undertake health and safety inspections and maintain compliance registers.
* Provide technical advice and support to teaching staff and students.
* Assist with procurement, sourcing quotes, and preparing purchase orders for consumables.
Skills and Experience Required
* Relevant degree/diploma or equivalent industry experience in jewellery or creativearts.
* Strong technical knowledge and specialist expertise in jewellery-making processes.
* Excellent communication skills with ability to provide clear instructions and prepare documentation.
* Ability to problem-solve and deliver creative solutions in a workshop environment.
* Experience managing student workshops or equivalent industry setting.
* Knowledge of OH&S legislation and safe practices in jewellery workshop environments.
Additional Requirements
Successful candidate will be required to provide:
* A valid Victorian Employee Working with Children Check (WWCC)
* A National Police Check
