• 11:59pm, Canberra timeEstimated start date: Tuesday, 07 October 2025Location of work: ACTWorking arrangements: Applicants will perform the role in Canberra, this is an onsite role.Length of contract: Until 30 June 2026Contract extensions: 1x 12 monthsSecurity clearance: Must be able to obtain Negative Vetting Level 1 (Must have an existing Baseline clearance)Rates: $100 - $120 per hour (inc. super)The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) maintains an impartial and independent electoral system for eligible voters through active electoral roll management, efficient delivery of polling services and targeted education and public awareness programs.
Responsibilities The AEC Command Centre (AECCC) is a new facility and an integral part of the AEC's day-to-day service delivery with three operational modes - Watch Mode, Election Mode and Incident Mode.
The AECCC provides a dedicated physical and digital space to bring people together in order to provide the right information to the right people at the right time to support centrally led and nationally consistent service delivery.
The Command Centre and Operational Model will deliver trusted and independent oversight and decision-making support to AEC functions and ensure the integrity of all operations.The Audio Visual Support Officer operates under direction from the AECCC Watch Keeper and assists with providing general support and level 1 audio visual services to the AEC Command Centre.
The role will engage with AECCC staff and colleagues across the AEC to ensure that the administrative functions of the Command Centre operate efficiently.
During Election Mode, the AECCC hours of operation will be extended outside standard business hours and staff may be required to work across shifts.
An elevated work cadence will be vital over extended timeframes for briefings, handovers, processes and relationship building with other business areas.Role will be responsible for, but not limited to:Provide expert advice for all audio-visual within the Command Centre (training will be provided)Assist in the remediation of any issues regarding audio and visual within the Command Centre, Media Hub, Landing Zone, Secure Room and Rapid Response RoomEnsure that audio and visual devices are operational prior to meetings within the above-mentioned roomsCommunicate with other audio-visual specialists to request assistance when required.Assist in the smooth running of the Command CentreProvide administration support to the Command CentreAssist with the physical room access, system accesses and room arrangements for meetings or increased staffingAdminister the SharePoint log books on the Command Centre SharePoint pageRearrange the room as required for meetings or increased staffingOperate professionally using AEC training, resources and procedures providedPerform additional duties or assume responsibility of functions as directed from time to time Essential Criteria Technical skills in the use of audio visual equipment, including Microsoft Teams Rooms.Experience in supporting audio visual equipment and staff using the equipment.Demonstrated computer literacy, in particular with corporate systems and multimedia technologies.Proven ability to act with discretion and integrity in managing sensitive and confidential information.Demonstrated experience in the provision of administrative support to programs.Proven ability to communicate effectively whilst responding to stakeholder needs and expectations across a geographically dispersed network.Operate professionally using AEC training, resources and procedures provided Demonstrated personal integrity whilst achieving results within legislative and policy parameters.
Desirable Criteria Understanding of, and ability to contribute to the preparation of reports, documents and plans.
