Full Time – 38 hours per week | Fixed Term – 24 months

About the Role
The Lead Family Practitioner provides culturally safe, complex care coordination for Aboriginal young people and their families involved with Child Protection and Justice systems.

These families often face higher rates of family violence, offending, child protection involvement, and other challenges.
You will work collaboratively with services to deliver holistic, culturally appropriate support that strengthens emotional, developmental, and cultural wellbeing.

Grounded in Aboriginal self-determination, the role partners with families, DFFH, Justice, and other stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes for Aboriginal children and families.
About You
Qualifications and Registrations:
Diploma in Community Services (or related field, minimum) or equivalent skills and experience.
Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of Rumbalara services, the local Aboriginal community, and issues affecting family safety and wellbeing.
Understanding of Aboriginal culture, intergenerational trauma, and their impacts on families.
Case management experience, including risk assessment, referrals, coordination, and culturally responsive practice.
Strengths-based, client-centred approach that supports resilience, self-determination, and positive behaviour change.
Proven ability to build trust, engage families, and encourage participation in programs.
Capacity to identify risks/needs, prioritise referrals, and provide practical, culturally safe support.
Knowledge of the Child, Youth and Families Act 2005 and compliance with program, legislative, and organisational requirements.
Robust communication, advocacy, teamwork, and organisational skills with the ability to manage competing demands and maintain confidentiality.
What We Offer:
Competitive pay and conditions based on the SCHADS Award: Level 4 - 5, Pay Point 1 (based on experience and qualifications).
Salary packaging of $15,900 available for Part- or Full-time employees.
