Our school celebrates a rich diversity of cultures, with 49% of families coming from a language background other than English. We are proud to maintain an excellent reputation within the community, known for our caring, supportive, and inclusive culture. We value school-wide collective responsibility for student learning, wellbeing, and success.

The collaborative effort of students, staff, parents, and the wider community foster high expectations for student learning and achievement. Together, we are committed to the pursuit of continual school improvement and excellence. Our school enjoys strong community participation, with active support for teaching and learning, school initiatives, special programs, and activities. In partnership with our community, we ensure our students have opportunities to engage in a variety of co-curricular activities such as sport, music, debating, public speaking, dance, choir, environmental projects, and student leadership.

At Winston Heights Public School, our Teacher Librarian plays a vital role in creating a warm, welcoming, and well-managed library environment that supports and inspires our whole school community. This dynamic position involves maintaining an organised and inviting space where students are actively engaged and supported in their borrowing and literacy development. The Teacher Librarian is a specialist in resource selection, assisting both students and staff with accessing a rich variety of print and digital materials, including expertly navigating the Oliver library system and SCIS. Beyond managing day-to-day library operations such as budgeting, accessioning, and stocktake, the role is central to fostering a love of reading, books, and storytelling through creative promotions like Book Week celebrations, Character Parades, Book Fairs, and lunchtime initiatives. The Teacher Librarian also designs and delivers engaging library teaching and learning programs that develop students' information literacy, research skills, and critical thinking, seamlessly integrating these with classroom curricula. Collaborating closely with teaching staff, the Teacher Librarian supports curriculum needs and leads innovative initiatives that position the library as a vibrant learning hub, integrating digital learning and enhancing student engagement. Through strong classroom and behaviour management skills, this role ensures a positive, productive environment that connects the school community, making the library the heart of learning at Winston Heights PS.

3. Proven experience in designing and delivering innovative library teaching and learning programs that develop students' information literacy, research skills, and aligned with curriculum objectives and class programs, and promoting a love of reading through creative initiatives such as Book Week, Book Fairs, and other school-wide events, demonstrating adaptability to diverse student needs.

4. Strong collaborative skills to work effectively with teaching staff and the wider school community, fostering the library as a vibrant, central learning hub that integrates digital resources and innovative approaches, promotes student engagement, supports positive behaviour and classroom management, and shows flexibility to respond to change.
