Senior Mental Health Clinician – Acute Community Intervention Service (ACIS)

* Location: Melton, Outer Community Mental Health Team (MH&WS)
* We welcome applications from Registered Psychiatric Nurses, Occupational Therapists, and Social Workers.
* Classification: RPN4, OT3, SW3.
* Part-time position (0.8 EFT) with a rotating 7-day roster.

Are you a skilled mental health clinician seeking a dynamic role in a fast-growing metropolitan Melbourne region? Join our Acute Community Intervention Service (ACIS) and make a meaningful impact in acute community mental health care.

About the Role
This position involves providing high-quality clinical care within our ACIS function. You will play a crucial role in crisis response, assessment, and intervention, ensuring timely and effective support for individuals experiencing acute mental health distress.

As a senior clinician, you will provide leadership, mentorship, and capacity-building within the team, demonstrating advanced clinical skills in community-based acute mental health care.

In addition to their ACIS responsibilities, clinicians in this role also provide secondary key clinician support to a small number of consumers, ensuring continuity of care where needed. They may also offer leave cover for a limited number of consumers to maintain service consistency during staff absences.

Key Responsibilities

* Deliver specialist mental health assessment, treatment, and intervention to individuals experiencing acute psychiatric distress.
* Provide leadership and support to colleagues, fostering skill development and clinical excellence.
* Actively contribute to innovative service planning and development to enhance acute mental health care.
* Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation across multiple online platforms.
* Coordinate care effectively, advocating for consumers and their families/carers within internal programs and external service providers.
* Ensure compliance with the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act 2022 and other relevant legislation.
* Uphold a consumer-centred approach, prioritising dignity, respect, and collaborative care.

Key Requirements

* Minimum five years' experience in the assessment and treatment of individuals with mental illness or psychiatric disability.
* Significant experience working in acute mental health settings, such as a crisis assessment team.
* Strong knowledge of mental health legislation and its application in clinical practice.
* Demonstrated ability to innovate and contribute to service improvements.
* Highly developed interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
