New offices to work from

Central Nedlands location, close to public transport

In this role, you will assist in coordinating fundraising events, engaging with donors and supporters, and providing operational support to our Fundraising & Marketing Coordinator. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with event management or non-for-profit experience who wants to contribute to a meaningful cause.

You will play a key role in the success of major events (such as charity golf days and community fundraisers) and campaigns during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, helping to raise vital funds and awareness for BCRC-WA's lifesaving programs.

As the Fundraising & Events Officer, your key responsibilities will be:

Event Planning & Coordination: Plan, organise, and execute fundraising events and activities from start to finish. This includes tasks such as developing event timelines and checklists, booking venues and vendors, coordinating event logistics (catering, equipment, permits), managing registrations/ticketing, and serving as the on-site coordinator on event days. You will work on signature BCRC-WA events (e.g. annual Par for Pink golf day, charity luncheons) as well as assist community-led fundraisers.

Donor Engagement & Communication: Support the cultivation and stewardship of donors and sponsors. You will draft donor correspondence, such as thank-youletters, receipts, and impact updates, in a timely and personalized manner. Assist in maintaining the donor database (updating contact info and donation records) and segmenting audiences for targeted outreach.

Marketing & Campaign Support : Work with the Coordinator to promote fundraising events. This includes preparing basic materials for events (flyers, social media posts, website updates) and coordinating promotional campaigns. During major campaigns like Breast Cancer Awareness Month, you will help implement awareness activities (e.g. coordinating informational booths, distributing ribbons/merchandise, liaising with partner organizations for collaborative events). Your role ensures consistent messaging and branding across fundraising activities, and that our supporters and the public stay informed about upcoming opportunities to engage (e.g. "Attend an Event" updates on our site).

Volunteer Coordination: Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers for fundraising events and activities. Volunteers are integral to our events (helping with tasks like event setup, check-ins, selling raffle tickets, etc.), and you will ensure they are well-briefed and supported. Provide on-site guidance, and allocate roles/events. You may also work with our community ambassadors, passionate individuals (often patients or former patients and supporters) who champion BCRC-WA in the community.

Administrative & Operational Support: Handle day-to-day administrative duties related to fundraising. This includes processing incoming donations and posting acknowledgment letters, keeping records of total funds raised for each event, and assisting with financial reconciliation in collaboration with the finance officer. Being tech-savvy with basic office software (Word, Excel) and comfortable with databases or CRMs will be important in this aspect of the job.

In order to be successful for this role, you will have:

A certificate, diploma, or currently studying toward a qualification in a relevant field (such as Event Management, Marketing, Communications, Business, or Community Services), desirable but not essential.

Experience in a not-for-profit, community organisation, or supporting events is an advantage, particularly where there is an interest in health or social causes. On-the-job training will be provided for the right candidate.

Event Management Skills: Demonstrated ability to plan and execute events or projects, including strong organisational and time-management skills. You should be able to juggle multiple deadlines and adapt to changes. Experience coordinating event logistics and working with vendors/venues is required. A keen eye for detail (to ensure nothing is overlooked in event preperation) and problem-solving skills on the fly (for when inevitable unexpected issues arise during events) are essential.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. You will be representing the organization to donors, sponsors, and volunteers, so professionalism and warmth in all interactions are a must. Ability to write clear, engaging content (for donor letters, social media, etc.) is important. You should be comfortable speaking to small groups (e.g. giving instructions to volunteers or thanking attendees at an event). Strong people skills to build relationships with diverse stakeholders – from corporate sponsors to breast cancer survivors – is critical, reflecting empathy and passion for our mission.
