The Senior Financial Analyst provides strategic advice and consultation related to the finance and accounting functions at Build NS. The Senior Financial Analyst will review processes, policies and finance related information for the purposes of providing strategic financial advice in order to create "new and improved" solutions to changing needs.
Qualifications
* Minimum 5 years experience as a financial analyst, advisor or consultant providing strong knowledge and recommendations related to financial management, analysis and strategy.
* Post‐secondary degree in business administration or related field.
* Professional accounting and/or finance designation is an asset.
* Strong research, analysis and consultation skills.
* Knowledge of financial analysis, accounting principles and process improvement.
* Strong time management and organizational skills.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders.
* Proven experience in change management.
* High level of integrity and adherence to ethical standards.
* Highly proficient in the use of MS Office Suite.
* Previous experience with accounting/finance software would be an asset (i.e., Yardi, SAP).
* Previous contract management experience is an asset.
* Experience in providing interpretation of Provincial policies, procedures and directives, setting and monitoring financial service process standards.
Responsibilities
* Provide strategic advice and guidance on a variety of accounting and finance functions to help drive process improvements and efficiency.
* Thoroughly review processes, policies and related finance information to ensure efficiencies and expected value to the province is realized.
* Providing advice and assistance with financial statement preparation and consolidation. You will also be the key contact for the audit process and responsible to co‐ordinate the audit efforts with external and/or internal auditors.
* Develops innovative solutions by integrating and analyzing complex and diverse information sources. Builds and reviews complex frameworks to assess the scope and context of short‐and long‐term business needs.
* Research best practices across government and communicate new ideas/solutions for areas of improvement within Build NS.
* Develops and maintains formal partnerships and collaborative relationships with colleagues and key stakeholders internal to agency and across the broader public and private sectors.
* Delivers expert research, analysis, consultation and advice on project issues. Makes a significant contribution to business performance, both short and long term, by recommending technical and/or professional solutions.
* May perform other related duties as assigned.

Pay Grade: NSL-12
Salary Range: $2,850.33 - $3,919.20 Bi-Weekly
Salary Placement: The placement of a new hire into the salary range is based on an objective salary rating process. This process will assess the knowledge, skills, experiences and overall qualifications of a candidate to determine appropriate placement. Each pay grade has established steps, and new hires cannot exceed certain maximums which are outlined in the Compensation Framework.
