Position Purpose And Primary Objectives
The Night Shift "Production Operator" ensures all production machinery and equipment continues to operate efficiently and effectively in a continuous nature. Additionally, the Night Shift Operators play a critical role in shutting down the production machinery and equipment at the end of the production week and ensure the facility is well prepared for the following week's production schedule delivery.
Qualifications & Experience
* Basic understanding of quality, safety and environmental practices and procedures.
* Able to function well as part of a team and liaise with other departments.
* Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and standing for extended periods.
* Forklift licence.
* Focus on accuracy and quality in all tasks to ensure product standards are met.
Desirable
* Previous experience in a manufacturing environment. (PVC Extrusion and/or mixing experience will be highly regarded)
* Ability to troubleshoot equipment issues and implement solutions effectively.
* Commitment to continuous improvement.
* Resilient and adaptable to business demands.
Tasks & Responsibilities
Reporting into the Production Team Leader you will be working three 12.5‑hour night shifts from Thursday to Saturday. Initially you will be placed on day shift rosters to ensure you receive the education and training required to be successful in your role.
Your role will include, but is not limited to:
* Contribute to activities relating to achieving company objectives (customer satisfaction and profitability)
* Work with team members, team leaders and all necessary personnel to resolve complications as they arise
* Communicate with team leaders about any equipment problems or malfunctions, and address them promptly
* Select and install extrusion tooling and all other necessary equipment parts so machines are always operating at peak efficiency
* Test products to ensure they meet customers' expectations
* Perform preventive maintenance procedures on equipment to ensure optimal functioning
* Ensure workplace machinery adheres to safety guidelines and system requirements
* Resolve issues as they arise and coordinate with team members and leaders to ensure effective processes
* Maintain awareness of product output to ensure target attainment
* Clean and maintain equipment and tools for optimal operation
* Operate the material handling, dry blend systems, extrusion lines and downstream equipment to established conditions and ensure profile is produced to required standards and specifications
* Monitor and maintain the quality of profile throughout the manufacturing process
* Continuously strive to achieve targets related to the production of profile to meet business needs in a safe and efficient manner
* Work as part of a team to create a culture of collaboration and embed recognised best practice and continuous improvement from across the manufacturing industry
* Work positively and proactively with other functions across the site, supporting an integrated and engaged operational workplace
