Compliance and Animal Management Officer (Proactive)

Full Time Permanent. Richmond.

Band 5 – $80,410.06 + super + RDO (RDO applicable for full time 38 hours per week). The core days are Monday – Friday, with a minimum 6‐week roster cycle. Penalty rates apply for Saturday & Sunday.

Position sits within the Compliance and Parking Branch, providing high‐level customer service in Animal Management and Local Laws. You will work as part of a small team to educate the community on responsible pet ownership and administer Council functions under the provisions of the Domestic Animals Act 1994 and the Council's General Local Law. The goal is to protect and enhance the safety, health and amenity of the municipality.

Key Responsibilities
* Implement community education programs focused on responsible pet ownership, including targeted campaigns addressing dog faeces.
* Conduct targeted patrols in known hotspot areas and times, combined with proactive engagement with park users and businesses to address issues before they escalates.
* Work proactively with residents and businesses to mitigate obstructions on Council land through inspection, blitz and other mechanisms.
* Run targeted education campaigns to promote proper waste disposal, and monitor bin and litter compliance.
* Proactively educate traders and waste collection companies regarding their responsibilities under the City of Yarra Local Laws, the Planning and Environment Act, the Environment Protection Act 2017 and other relevant legislation.
* Conduct investigations, initiate enforcement action, interview involved parties and prepare evidence briefs.

You will also be required to build and maintain professional relationships with all stakeholders, demonstrating respect, teamwork and innovation to improve productivity and efficiency while maintaining agreed standards.
