Job Description
ABC Heavy Engineering is a leading multi-disciplinary engineering company, heavily focused on safety and quality. We specialise in the manufacture, repair, and maintenance of heavy equipment in the mining, civil ports, and agriculture sectors, both in our Paget workshop and on site. Over the last 20 years, through our ingenuity and commitment to research and development programs, we have become a major supplier of a wide range of services both in Australia and overseas.
Responsibilities
* Read and interpret drawings and specifications.
* Fit and assemble mechanical parts, subassemblies, and equipment according to blueprints and technical drawings.
* Install machinery, equipment, and structural components with proper alignment and fit.
* Use various tools and machinery to assist in the assembly of a wide range of bulk material handling equipment such as conveyors, feeders and crushers.
* Fit and assemble metal parts to fabricated production machines and other equipment.
* Use a range of tools and engineering techniques to maintain and repair mobile and fixed mechanical plant and equipment to operational standards.
* Utilise a variety of hand tools (e.g., hammers, rulers), power tools, and measuring instruments to complete tasks accurately.
* Perform regular maintenance, conduct diagnostic tests on malfunctioning systems, and repair or replace defective parts to ensure proper function.
* Inspect components for accuracy and fit, and ensure that final assemblies meet safety and quality standards.
* Complete daily maintenance and repair logs.
* Adhere to and promote Workplace Health & Safety regulations.
* Report any hazardous situations and be aware of responsibility in the event of an emergency.
* Report any items requiring maintenance.
* Ensure that safety precautions are adhered to when using equipment.
* Access and have the ability to complete Job Risk Assessments.
Qualifications
* Trade certifications and qualifications.
* Proven experience working as a fitter.
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and blueprints.
* Proficiency with hand and power tools.
* Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, fabrication, and installation processes.
* Strong attention to detail and the ability to conduct quality checks on completed work.
* Ability to work independently or as part of a team to complete assigned tasks.
* Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations to prevent accidents and injuries in the workplace.
* Proactive attitude with the desire to work reliably as part of an outstanding team.
* Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
* Strong communication, time management, and organisational skills.
* Self‑motivated, organised, punctual, and reliable.
* Must have great work ethics.
Salary: Between $75,000 and $80,000 per annum + Super
