The College prides itself on being a hub for the Seymour community in our education and wellbeing services from birth through to graduation. This includes a co-located Family and Children¿s Centre with kindergarten and maternal and child health services on site. The college is also involved in a ten-year partnership with the Colman Education Foundation, Kids First Australia, Mitchell Shire Council, Department of Family, Fairness and Housing to implement the 'Our Place¿ approach.

**Selection Criteria**:
SC1 Demonstrated understanding of career options, course counselling processes and other Departmental or external initiatives.

SC2 Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with students, parents and staff at Seymour College and community agencies.

SC3 A demonstrated ability to identify issues that prevent students achieving success and to develop strategies and programs to support them.

SC4 A well developed knowledge of vocational and assistance programs available to students.

SC5 Demonstrated ability to plan strategically, manage complex events and to balance competing demands.

**Role**:
Objectives will, generally, be clearly defined; guidelines will be broad and day-to-day direction mínimal. Management responsibility extends to ensuring appropriate support levels are maintained across the school. Range 4 generally provides key support and timely advice to the leadership team and school council and liaises with the general school community, the Department and other government agencies and service providers.

Specialised professional roles will carry a high level of independence and accountability where suitable scope is provided to achieve objectives.

An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students, but must not include duties of teaching as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students cannot be required except where it is an integral part of the employee¿s position or involves supervision of students individually or in small groups, in controlled circumstances, where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.

**Responsibilities**:

- Manage the delivery of support services to students, teachers, parents and other school clients.
- Ensure all external providers deliver the required service.
- To organise and manage student career plans (years 9-12) and the College's Careers program
- To work with the school administration to ensure each student has an individual pathway supported by learning plans across the school from years 7-12
- To ensure that the Careers Program supports an inclusive literacy and numeracy focus across the school and curriculum
- To implement and supervise work placements and industry partnerships, liaising with the Headstart Coordinator, supporting School Based Apprenticeships, work experience and SWL
- Participate in Pathways parent/teacher interviews
- In co-operation with the Vocational Education and Training (VET) cluster, oversee the responsibility for VET enrolments, planning of VET elements within senior course pathways, school-based VET administration and liaising with the VASS coordinator to ensure results are entered onto VASS. Liaise with the Business Manager over VET expenses and administration
- Support the interviews for prospective Vocational Major students
- Assist Administration with Census data and destinations data entries in February each year
- Career Plan Census data to be updated in August each year
