Join a busy specialist cardiology clinic in Townsville as a GP with a special interest in cardiology. Work alongside cardiologists managing stable coronary disease, heart failure, arrhythmias and preventive cardiology, and help run our in‑clinic stress echo and risk‑factor clinics.
Ideal for a GP wanting to deepen skills in cardiology while maintaining GP scope and MBS billing.
* Clinical: protected time in cardiology clinics, direct mentoring by cardiologists, exposure to echo/stress tests and tilt table testing.
* Career: structured support to develop/recognise a special interest (CPD, RACGP Specific Interests membership, possible academic sessions).
* This is an independent contractor position with a 70/30 percentage‑of‑billings arrangement, where you retain 70% of your Medicare and private billings and the clinic retains 30% as a service fee. The clinic provides fully equipped consulting rooms, access to cardiac diagnostics, nursing and administrative support, and established referral streams. Earnings will depend on the number and mix of patients seen, with the opportunity to build a focused cardiology‑interested GP practice within a specialist environment.
Essential requirements:
* FRACGP and/or FACRRM with unrestricted AHPRA registration and Medicare provider number suitable for practice in Townsville.
* Demonstrated experience and confidence in managing common cardiac conditions within GP scope (e.g. ischaemic heart disease, heart failure, atrial fibrillation, lipid and blood pressure management).
* Genuine interest in cardiology and secondary prevention, evidenced by prior hospital cardiology terms, cardiac clinics, or relevant CPD.
Desirable attributes:
* Involvement in or interest in RACGP Specific Interests – cardiovascular or cardiology‑related groups.
* Experience in cardiac rehabilitation, heart failure programs, or preventive cardiology.
* Willingness to contribute to quality improvement, data collection and teaching of students or staff.
